HARD VS SOFT

----
NATURE VS MANMADE

forced connection

In this class, we are supposed to go around the school building and find scenes that contains contrasting themes of objects -- the Hard vs the Soft, and Manmade vs Nature. Through this journey, we rediscovered the things we have almost never noticed before, the sceneries that we often ignore while briskly passing by. We saw things in deeper meaning, and have truly enjoyed the experience. Noticing the things that we always looked over in everyday life shows how we are always absentmindedly thinking about the past and the future; how we are almost never truly, mentally present.

Our minds have also been opened throughout this class. We realized that juxtaposing elements brings out the best of each other. It creates a raw, fresh and innovative nuance. The best example would be the second last picture, where the huge three-dimensional company logo built from shiny metallic aluminum is positioned and set on a small patch of soiled green grass. Such composition truly intrigues the viewers.

Lastly, we have also understood how the opposites support each other in harmony, that instead of changing something or even someone according to the norms, we could just accept things as they are and use their properties to support the other, just like how the soft liquid soap are stored nicely in the hard plastic dispenser. In conclusion, we believe that this topic has taught us to appreciate the simplest things in life.
